Your celebration. Their lifeline.
The death of Lord Heathcliff
Lord Heathcliff, Earl of Froddington, has died tragically whilst taking his swim. It should have been an ordinary morning — and yet there is some speculation that his death was not a natural one at all.
As his effects were being gone through, an envelope came to light. The instructions upon it were quite specific: it was to be opened only in the presence of his friends, family and acquaintances. And so everyone has been duly assembled — the grieving, the guilty, and quite possibly both.
“In the presence of my friends, family and acquaintances…”
The assembled suspects
Four figures were present at Froddington that morning. Each had the run of the house — and each, perhaps, a reason. Question them closely.
Eliza
The Earl's wife, composed and impeccably turned out. Grief becomes her… almost too well.
Motive: ?Mr Branson
Loyal to the household for many years — and privy to every secret behind every closed door.
Motive: ?Reverend Roderick Moncrieff
A man of the cloth and a frequent guest at Froddington. What confessions has he been keeping?
Motive: ?Miss Henfry
She keeps the keys, the schedules and the standards — and misses very little that happens under this roof.
Motive: ?Can you beat the Police to the culprit?
Attend the gathering
Take your seat among the assembled friends, family and acquaintances.
Interrogate the suspects
Question each of them and listen carefully for the alibi that doesn't hold.
Review the evidence
Weigh what you've seen and heard between the courses of your dinner.
Submit your theory
Name whodunnit — and, crucially, why — before the evening concludes.
A note on Inspector Doolittle. The local Constabulary have been informed and the Inspector was on his way — only to be delayed by a report of an elderly couple and their cat held hostage by an angry badger that entered via the cat-flap. The family are keen to clear things up quickly. Which is where you come in.
